Camera are Matt Nicholls (Guitar/Vox), Steve Nicholls (Guitar), Ben Trow (Bass), Steff Owens (Drums) and Tim Morgan (Keys). The group hail from Wrexham and to date they have released two full length LP’s (Ashes and Dim Light and For When You Wake) and two EP’s (Fireflies EP and The Sun and the Moon and So On). The five piece draw influence from a range of artists such as Wilco, Radiohead, Elbow and Woody Guthrie, their classic approach to songwriting and stellar musicianship make them one of the most underrated bands around.
Over the years Camera have played a great deal of noteworthy shows, from performing in front of 60,000 people at the 2005 Tsunami Relief Concert at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium to playing alongside Darwin Deez and Hurts on NME’s Radar Tour. I have been lucky enough to catch Camera live on numerous occasions and the band are always tight, energetic and full of confidence.
The group released their debut album back in 2006 via independent label My Kung Fu but now release their material on their own DIY label Drum With Our Hands.
Since the release of their sophomore EP, and after a trip to Canada earlier this year to play NXNE Camera have had some down time, keeping themselves busy with their respective side projects (Seazoo, Baby Brave).
Here’s hoping that the band return with some new material and more live shows very soon.
